Exciting stuff. The flash player keeps getting better and better.

Lars's Gravatar I read the features, and this part sounds interesting:

The Pixel Bender just-in- time (JIT) compiler can also be used to process other types of data, such as sound or mathematical functions, asynchronously in a separate thread.

Asyncron? in a seperate thread? Has Flash suddenly got multi-threaded

Ben's Gravatar Personally I'd be interested to have a look at the dynamic sound generation, and the ability to filter and mix the audio through the JIT compiler.

Multi threading was used in Flash Player 9 for some of the video decoding, bitmap filters and vector rendering i believe.

Lars's Gravatar Ben, thanks.
but what especially triggered me, was that they wrote "mathematical functions"
For instance that we could use the JIT compiler, to calculate a cubic spline functions for our graphs in this Flex application:

Ben's Gravatar Hey Lars,
Yeah it does sound like you'll be able to use the compiler to perform those types of calculations. The benefit will be in being able to perform the heavy mathematical processing in a separate thread.

Couldn't seem to get your application to run :(

Lars's Gravatar You are probably behind a firewall that does not allow communications through port 20007
